the history…
Chris Trevett started his career at Battery Studios in London, England under chief engineers Nigel Green and Bryan New. The biggest influence on Chris while at Battery was getting to work on several records with legendary producer Mutt Lange including the Billy Ocean smash “Get Out of My Dreams, Get Into My Car”. Other producers and artists included Chris Tsangarides, Barry Eastmond, Tony Platt, Michael Brauer, Stone Roses, Whodini, Black Sabbath and Kool Moe Dee.
In 1989 Chris relocated to New York City and accepted a position at Soundtrack Studios. While at Soundtrack Chris recorded and mixed songs for many artists including Guy “The Future” and Boyz II Men “cooleyhighharmony”. Other producers and artists included Phil Ramone, Arif Mardin, Neil Kernon, Flood, Teddy Riley, Dallas Austin and Nine Inch Nails.
In 1991 Chris was approached by Clive Calder, CEO of the Zomba Group to become a staff producer and the chief mix engineer at Zomba / Jive Records and Battery Studio’s. During Chris’ 11 year tenure at Zomba / Jive, he worked with many artists including R.Kelly, Joe, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, The Roots, Eryka Badu, and Prince with record sales soaring over the 100 Million mark.
In 1997, at the suggestion of Clive Calder, Chris moved into the fast growing A&R department at Jive Records. This allowed him the flexibility of continuing his work in the studio while also taking an active role in A&R.
In 2002, Chris became freelance and has continued his close relationship with Jive Records to the present day while also branching out into producing, mixing and writing with various artists from around the world.
Currently Chris is based in Nashville but travels frequently to New York and London and where ever duty calls…
